Former congressman plans to launch News channel.
J.C. Watts is the chairman of the J.C. Watts Companies.
J.C. Watts , a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1995 to 2003, is developing the Black Television News Channel. Which is an all-news network aimed at African-American viewers.
“We hope to be the single destination for reliable, credible, informational resources for the African-American community,” said Watts.
He is currently trying to raise $20 million to build studios in Washington as well as a “coast-to-coast high definition news gathering infrastructure. He added that “The critical thing is to allow the community to create a platform to be involved in the economic, social and political debates taking place across the country,” added Watts.
Watts also announced an agreement with Comcast Corp that the News Channel will be added to their systems in Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Detroit , Philadelphia and Washington. It would be available nationwide on Dishnet.
